You can use a "bounce" function to combine multiple tracks into one or two (stereo) tracks. That way you can overdub more than 10 instruments. However, once several tracks have been bounced, they cannot be separated again. Another alternative is to use a virtual takes to record other instruments. In this case, virtual takes of the same track cannot be played at once. Using these functions to suit your needs will let you record an unlimited number of parts, as long as there is space on your HDD.

If an inserted effect is not a stereo, mixed the sounds is recorded. Please use a stereo effect or bypass the insert effect.

If there is difference in the signal level between data that was previously recorded and the punched in sound, a click sound may be heard. But this is not a noise. We recommend performing a punch In/Out in a silent area, not in a middle of the sound.

A guitar effect is turned on at the default setting of the MRS-1044/1044CD. Please change this effect to a line effect or bypass.

When the V-take number of the bounce target track and the V-take number for playback are different, only one track of the bounced material may be played back. To perform bounce recording in stereo, set the V-take of the bounce target to "CURRENT" (currently selected V-take). If performing bounce with a setting other than CURRENT, make sure that the correct V-takes are selected for the stereo track in playback.
For information on selecting the V-take for the bounce target, see "Selecting the recording destination V-take" on page 38 of the operation manual. For information on switching the V-take for each track, see "Switching V-takes" on page 35 of the operation manual.

When the fader level is adjusted to over 0 dBm, the output signal can be distorted. Adjust all the faders to less than 0 dBm and try playback again. If the sound is still distorted, the data that you have recorded might already be distorted. Please adjust input levels carefully before recording.

Active type guitar or bass guitar signals have a high output level and low impedance, compared with passive types. Please use a line input (unbalance). Also, when connecting electrical devices such as an effect processor, please use the line input also.
|

With a digital mixer, the appeared fader position can be different from the actual parameter value. Please move the fader knob a little, so that the parameter matches the fader position.

The balance stored in memory may be recalled at the starting position, if the scene setting is enabled. Please erase the scene setting at the starting position.

The bass sound on the MRS-1044 has only one voice. In other words, it cannot create polyphonic sound. Therefore your bass pattern may sounds a little "staccato". Please try to program bass patterns by using mono sound.

The MRS-1044 cannot perform step recording. It can only record rhythm patterns in real time. Even so, you can input a rhythm pattern with precise timing using the quantise function.
|

It is possible. Using the bounce function, you can record the drum/bass track to any audio tracks. At this time, you should mute the other audio tracks. Also, an effect also can be used on the drum/bass sound.

A rhythm pattern is stored in memory for each project. After saving an original rhythm pattern, you can import it into your new project.

Actually it is very difficult to make synchronized song data for existing (recorded) audio tracks. Please fix tempo first when you start recording, even rhythm is only metronome. For your emergency purpose, you can over-dub drum sound onto your existing audio tracks, using bounce function.
1) Prepare empty 2 tracks for bounce purpose (e.g. track 5 & 6).
2) Set PAN to full L for track 5, set PAN to full R for track 6.
3) Set PAN to full L for drum track, set PAN to full R for existing audio tracks (e.g. track 1-4).
4) Bounce all tracks to track 5&6 while you hitting drum pads. Accordingly drum sounds are recorded to track 5, and other audio tracks are mixed to track 6.
5) Re-set PAN to center for track 5 (drum sound), and use with track 1-4. Track 6 that was bounced 1-4 tracks is not necessary. Please erase it.

Windows (OS) sets the read only file attribute when you drag & drop the file from CD-ROM, then 1044 displays error massage. Please cancel read only attribute by the operation of the Windows side. If you want to set 1044 to factory setting, please use "FacRecvr" tool that included in attached CD of the UIB-01. Please refer operation manual of the UIB-01 for more explanations.

There is 2 types of CD player. Most of player can playback CD-R/RW, but some of them cannot. If you playback CD-R/RW by the one that cannot playback it, some problems will be occurred, for example:
1. Luck of sound while playback.
2. Need long time to start playback.
3. Do not start playback.
Please confirm to manufacturer/supplier of your CD player whether your CD player can playback CD-R/RW.

Have you written the audio data by album? Discs on which data were written by album are finalized automatically. The disc can already be played on a regular CD player and does not need to be finalized again.

The MRS-1044 cannot be used as a Slave for another MIDI device. It is designed to be used as a Master in a MIDI setup. Please use other MIDI devices as the Slave.
|
 |
| A: |
No. The 1044's USB interface cannot be connected with general USB equipment, other than computer. The 1044 is working as slave equipment for host computer. You can do anything to all files on the internal HD of 1044, including backup or data convert. It looks very convenience, but please be careful not to destroy any important system files.

A PC (Windows computer) will recognize the MRS-1044 as an external hard disk. Therefore, you can backup the data (files) on the PC using the copy and paste functions. Furthermore, the UIB-01/02 comes with "Audio File Manager" software that can convert the audio data on the 1044/1044CD to a WAV file (a standard PC audio data format). Then you can use PC appreciations, for example you can create audio CDs on the PC, and edit waveforms using DAW software.

It does not support the Apple Macintosh. Since the MRS-1044 hard disk uses the FAT32 file system, it is not compatible with Mac file operations.

Yes it can. When installing drivers, Windows XP displays a digital identification confirmation screen. Please ignore this screen and continue the installation. There should not be any problems.

Due to the limitation of programming language's ability, Audio File Manager does not allow you to create over 200 minutes WAV file. Please trim the V-take data less than 200 minutes from TRACK EDIT function of the MRS-1044. After that, export the V-take data to your computer.

A demo songs (Project 000-003 and 996-999) are protected in order to prevent accidental erasure. When a project is protected, a LOCK mark will appear to the middle of the project name display. To remove the protection, please refer to page 85 of the instruction manual. Any new projects that you create, and the tutorial Project 992-995, are not protected.

The marker point is stored in memory using the hour/minute/second information of the recorder section. Each time you perform a locate operation using the measure/beat/tick indication, the display value is calculated again, based on the tempo and beat information of the rhythm section. This calculation may lead to a slight error. To get the most accurate locate result, you should use the hour/minute/second indication.
