Q:	I want to record stereo source to any 2 tracks. However, recorded result is mono.

A:	When you use specific effect algorism, for example Guitar/Bass or MIC as like mono input type, sound source was mixed to mono through effect section. Please BY PASS effect section, or use stereo input/stereo output type effect algorism, for example LINE or MASTERING.

Q:	How long is the maximum continuous recording time.

A:	Maximum 6 hours, not depending on recording tracks.

Q:	I have used the bounce function to record material onto stereo track, but during playback only one channel is heard.

A:

When the V-take number of the bounce target track and the V-take number for playback are different, only one track of the bounced material may be played back. To perform bounce recording in stereo, set the V-take of the bounce target to "CURRENT" (currently selected V-take). If performing bounce with a setting other than CURRENT, make sure that the correct V-takes are selected for the stereo track in playback. For information on selecting the V-take for the bounce target, see "Selecting the recording destination V-take" on page 40 of the operation manual. For information on switching the V-take for each track, see "Switching V-takes" on page 33 of the operation manual.

Q:	Although the fader volume is increased, I cannot hear the sound.

A:	With a digital mixer, the appeared fader position can be different from the actual parameter value. Please move the fader knob a little, so that the parameter matches the fader position.

Q:	After I executed "All Initialize" command in the HDD maintenance function, it is no sound on drum kit and all effect patches became "EMPTY".

A:	We confirmed the above problem in some of production lot of MRS-802/802CD. For details, click here.

Q:	Does the unit include a bass sound source?

A:	No, a bass sound source is not built in.

Q:	Is it possible to read loop sound through internal CD drive and use it for phrase loop function from loop corrections CDs?

A:

It is possible to read and use WAV/AIFF data. Any specific data format, for example ACID data, should be read into WAV format. So any specific information is ignored. Audio loop corrections should be read as ripping data and then it should be imported as phrase loop. When a CD-R cannot be read depends on its format, please read it by computer and then transfer data to MRS-802 through USB interface.

Q:	Can the phrase loop function handle the data that was recorded by 32kHz sampling.?

A:	Yes. The MRS-802 can handle the data that was sampled by 32kHz. When the 32kHz sampling data is read through internal drive, sampling frequency is converted to 44.1kHz. Please note that reading time should be longer because of convert processing.

Q:	I have the MRS-802 that was installed UIB-01/UIB-02 USB interface. Can I use WAV/AIFF files on my computer for the phrase loop function?

A:	Yes you can. Please copy WAV/AIFF files that you want to use into the "WAV_AIFF" folder on internal hard disk drive of the MRS-802. Please refer to the item of "Importing a WAV/AIFF file" (p.59-60) of the operation manual for details.

Q:	When I try ripping a loop phrase from audio CD, "PROTECT" warning is displayed and I cannot do ripping.

A:	You cannot do ripping when the project was protected, for example demo song was protected originally. Please cancel "PROTECT" function by referring the item of "Protecting/unprotecting a project" (p.127) of operation manual.

Q:	The indication "NO DATA" appears on the display, when attempting to create an audio CD.

A:	The only audio data of the "MASTER TRACK" is burned to a CD-R/RW disc. Before creating an audio CD, please complete the mix-down operation on the master track. For details about mix-down function, please refer to the operation manual, page of "Recording several tracks on a master track" (P.37-39).

Q:	How fast is the writing speed of the CD-R/RW drive?

A:	CD-R/RW drive has quadruple writing speed. However, it takes half of recorded time approximately.

Q:	Is ripping possible from audio CD?

A:	Ripping is possible. However, secondary use is prohibited except your personal use. Please pay attention not to infringe any copyrights.

Q:	My CD player do not playback CD-R/RW that was made by the MRS-802 internal CD-R/RW drive.

A:	There is 2 types of CD player. Most of player can playback CD-R/RW, but some of them cannot. If you playback CD-R/RW by the one that cannot playback it, some problems will be occurred, for example: 1. Luck of sound while playback. 2. Need long time to start playback. 3. Do not start playback. Please confirm to manufacturer/supplier of your CD player whether your CD player can playback CD-R/RW.

Q:	Can I install versatile CD/R-RW drive other than "CD-01/02" on the MRS-802?

A:	Please do not install any versatile CD-R/RW drive other than CD-01/02. Mechanically, it is possible to attach versatile one, however behavior is not proved because firmware for each versatile are not standardized. Possibility of writing error must be very high, so please be sure to purchase and install optional CD-01/02 from our distributors or dealers.

Q:	The MRS-802 cannot read WAVE/AIFF file that is saved by CD-R drive on a PC.

A:	If you make CD-R by "Track at once" mode, CD drive of the MRS-802 cannot recognize it. Please make CD-R by "Disk at once" mode.

Q:	After writing audio data to a CD-R, the attempt to finalize the disc results in the error message "NOT CD-R".

A:	Have you written the audio data by album? Discs on which data were written by album are finalized automatically. The disc can already be played on a regular CD player and does not need to be finalized again.

Q:	MIDI synchronization is not working with other equipment.

A:	MRS-802 supports synchronization by MIDI clock, but transmits only, not recognize. Please confirm whether connected equipment supports MIDI clock as recognize. MTC (MIDI Time Code) is not supported.

Q:	Is it possible to record sequence data from MIDI IN to Rhythm Song of the MRS-802?

A:	No, it is not possible. Real time recording is not possible at Rhythm song mode. If you want to import sequence data, please make SMF file as format 0, and import it by using USB interface or CD-ROM drive.

Q:	Is the UIB-01 USB interface supported on the MRS-802?

A:	Yes. The MRS-802 supports USB interface.

Q:	What is difference between the UIB-01 and UIB-02?

A:	The UIB-01 has already discontinued, and updated to the UIB-02 that is upper compatible to the UIB-01. The UIB-02 supports USB version 2.0 that allows hi-speed data transfer. Please note that the UIB-02 responds to version 1.1 automatically when the host computer does not support version 2.0.

Q:	Does the MRS-802 can be connected to Macintosh through USB interface?

A:	Yes it does. The MRS-1044 could not be connected to Macintosh, however the MRS-802 got to be connected.

Q:	Which operating system does the UIB-01 (USB interface) support?

A:	The UIB-01 supports Windows 98 / 2000 / XP, and Mac OS 9.1 or later - before 9.2.2.

Q:	Which operating system does the UIB-02 (USB interface) support?

A:	The UIB-02 supports Windows 98 / 2000 / XP, and Mac OS 9 / OS X.

Q:	When I try to install UIB-01/UIB-02 driver to Windows XP, warning massage appears.

A:	Even warning massage for product activation appears, please ignore it and continue installation. No problems will be happened.

Q:	What does USB interface allow to?

A:

When the UIB-01/UIB-02 is installed on the MRS-802, computer (Windows PC or Macintosh) will recognize the MRS-802 as an external hard disk drive. Therefore, you can backup or filing any data on your computer by using copy/paste function. Furthermore, the "Audio File Manager" free software, that comes with recovery disk for the MRS-802, allows you to convert audio data to WAV file. Then you can create audio CD on your computer, and/or edit waveforms using DAW software. Link to download page

Q:	I installed the UIB-01 USB interface and tried to transfer the data to my computer by using Audio File Manager software. However, data in the MRS-802 is not displayed.

A:	On the CD-ROM that was supplied with UIB-01, attached Audio File Manager software is for the MRS-1044. So this software cannot handle data for the MRS-802. Please use new version software that is attached on a CD-ROM supplied with the MRS-802. You can download this software from the web site Link to download page

Q:	Using Audio File Manager for Windows, I cannot succeed in converting over 200 minutes size V-take to WAV format.

A:	Due to the limitation of programming language's ability, Audio File Manager does not allow you to create over 200 minutes WAV file. Please trim the V-take data less than 200 minutes from TRACK EDIT function of the MRS-802. After that, export the V-take data to your computer.

Q:	The MRS-802 does not recognize the project folders, although the computer recognizes those folders of the MRS-802 in USB mode.

A:	When you changed the name of folder - "PROJ xxx" ( where the "xxx" part is the project number as 000-999) - by computer operation, the MRS-802 cannot recognize it. Please correct back to original name of folders. Please never alter the names of folders or files other than project also.

Q:	Is the SIB-01 SCSI interface supported on the MRS-802?

A:	No. The MRS-802 does not support SCSI interface.

Q:	Is there data compatibility with other MRS series?

A:

Yes. However, there are restrictions depending on the products which exchange the data. Please refer followings. When loading MRS-802 projects into the MRS-1266 The following data will not be read : Scenes Drum kits The effect patches of the CLEAN, DIST, ACO/BASS SIM and BASS algorithms will be integrated as GUITAR/BASS algorithm patches. When loading MRS-1044 projects into the MRS-802 The following data will not be read : Audio data for tracks 9/10 Scenes Effect patches Bass sound parameters Pad sensitivity settings When loading MRS-1266 projects into the MRS-802 The following data will not be read : Audio data for tracks 9/10 Scenes Sub out settings Drum kits Bass sound parameters Pad sensitivity settings The effect patches of the GUITAR/BASS algorithm will be divided and assigned to the CLEAN, DIST, ACO/BASS SIM, and BASS algorithms in numerical order. In DUAL algorithm patches, the parameters of G/B&Mic type and of Gtr&Bass type will be changed. When loading MRS-802 projects into the MRS-1044 The following data will not be read : Scenes Rhythm pattern numbers 255 - 510 Rhythm song numbers 1 - 9 Effect patches

Q:	Even though I tried to execute "Recover" or "Ver up" with the supplied CD-ROM, I cannot enter the menu of the "HDD maintenance" function.

A:	We confirmed CD-ROM with error in the data is included in some of production lot. With this CD-ROM, it is impossible to utilize HDD maintenance function. For details, click here.

Q:	When I turn power on to start the MRS-802, the indication "Sys File Error" appears and the unit freezes.

A:	There is a problem with reading the system files. Use the ScanDisk function of the MRS-802 to check and repair the internal hard disk file structure. For details, see the section "Test/restore integrity of data on internal hard disk (ScanDisk)" on page 138 of the Operation Manual. If this does not clear up the problem, contact your ZOOM dealer for service.

Q:	When I turn power on to start the MRS-802, the indication "Ver.x.xx" appears and the unit freezes.

A:	There is a problem with reading the system files. Use the ScanDisk function of the MRS-802 to check and repair the internal hard disk file structure. For details, see the section "Test/restore integrity of data on internal hard disk (ScanDisk)" on page 138 of the Operation Manual. If this does not clear up the problem, contact your ZOOM dealer for service.

Q:	When I turn power on to start the MRS-802, the indication "Int HDD Error" appears and the unit freezes.

A:	The internal hard disk cannot be accessed properly. Use the ScanDisk function of the MRS-802 to check and repair the internal hard disk file structure. For details, see the section "Test/restore integrity of data on internal hard disk (ScanDisk)" on page 138 of the Operation Manual. If this does not clear up the problem, contact your ZOOM dealer for service.

Q:	When I locate a marker point using the measure/beat/tick indication, the position is shifted by several ticks.

A:

The marker point is stored in memory using the hour/minute/second information of the recorder section. Each time you perform a locate operation using the measure/beat/tick indication, the display value is calculated again, based on the tempo and beat information of the rhythm section. This calculation may lead to a slight error. To get the most accurate locate result, you should use the hour/minute/second indication.
