You can use 4MB, 8MB and 16MB Smart Media Card. There is no problem also "With ID" type. However please use 3.3v type only, not use 5v type.

SmartMedia is a general memory card for digital cameras. You can purchase it at computer shops. You may also able to find some net-stores.

Sampling time cannot be extended. Smart Media Card can be used only for data backup and filing use.

As MIDI IN is equipped, ST-224 can be used as sound module by NOTE ON/OFF message. However, as it corresponds only to the Gate playback, sound will not be available in case the time interval of NOTE ON OFF is too short. ST224 need enough gate length (time interval) as same as sampling sound length.

Please check if MIDI channel of the equipment is same as ST-224's channel. In addition, please refer to MIDI implementation chart at the last page of operation manual.

When making ST-224 synchronized with other equipment, it is necessary to match BPM of the equipment and BPM of the sampled sound. And please set up Start/End point of the sampling sound suitable, otherwise synchronize can be un-locked.

You may used up the all memory for sampling. Please erase an unnecessary sampling data. You can also optimize samples, so please refer to "Optimizing" in operation manual.
When you still cannot do sampling, RE-SAMPLE KEY may be turned on. Please turn off it, since you cannot sample any input signal from external equipment.

Sampler records the input sound as it is. When you need only Drum sound, you need to input only Drum sound. It is not possible to sample only specific sound from the mixed sound source.

The SmartMedia card has a write-protect sticker attached. Remove the sticker and try again. Otherwise, the indication also appears when inserting a 32MB or higher capacity card that is not supported by the ST-224. Use only SmartMedia cards rated for 3.3V with a capacity between 4 and 16 MB.
