Pressing a foot switch does not change patches. Why?
To change patches with the foot switches, the G1u must be in play mode. Set the Module selector to ''PLAY''.
The volume level for my programmed patches differs. How can I make the volume the same?
Use the ''PATCH LEVEL'' parameter to adjust the volume to a suitable level for each patch. For details on the ''PATCH LEVEL'' parameter, see page 21 of the Operation Manual.
While playing a rhythm pattern, a reverb effect doesn't work. Why?
Due to limited DSP resources, the rhythm function and reverb effects cannot be used simultaneously. While a rhythm pattern is playing, reverb effects are temporarily disabled.
While using the looping function, a delay effect doesn't work. Why?
Due to limited DSP resources, the looping function and delay effects cannot be used simultaneously. While using the looping function, delay effects are temporarily disabled.
When switching patches, is it possible to have the sound not change until I confirm the selection?
Yes, this is possible. If you set the patch selection mode to ''pre-select'', the sound will not change until you confirm the selection. This is useful when changing to a patch at a far removed memory number during a live performance. For details, see the section ''Changing the Way Patches Are Called Up'' on page 18 of the Operation Manual.
Does the G1u provide two types of modeling algorithms for amp connection and line connection, like the other G series (G2/G2.1u/G7.1ut/G9.2tt)?
No, the G1u does not incorporate a modeling algorithm for line connection. When using a line connection, you should use the cabinet simulator to add a speaker cabinet sound.
Using high-gain distortion effects, noise level becomes higher.
All drive effects such as overdrive, distortion, fuzz are produced by amplifying input signal. (not only ZOOM products) Therefore, a very little noise in guitar signal which comes from guitar pickup or guitar cable will be amplified together. To minimize noise level, please adjust ZNR parameter properly.
What kind of functions are available with the optional Foot Switch FS01?
Connecting the Foot Switch FS01 allows you to switch the patch bank and to perform tap tempo input for the rhythm pattern and looping functions.
What kind of functions are available with the optional Expression Pedal FP02?
Connecting the Expression Pedal FP02 allows you to control any effect parameter in real time. While playing your guitar, you can not only adjust volume, pedal wah, and pedal pitch with your foot, but you can even control the gain of distortion effects, the modulation rate, and the delay/reverb mix amount.
When using the optional Expression Pedal FP02 as a volume pedal, can I set a minimum volume?
No, this is not possible. When you release the Expression Pedal, the volume level will be zero.
USB
Can the USB interface also be used with software other than ZFX Tools and Live Lite 7?
Since the unit is recognized as a standard audio interface, other DAW software besides ZFX Tools and Live Lite 7 can be used. You may also perform audio playback through the unit using Windows Media Player or Apple iTunes and play along with your favorite tunes. For information on settings for DAW software besides Cubase, consult the respective manufacturer.
I can use the USB audio interface functions for recording, but there is no sound from my computer speakers.
When using the G1u as a USB audio interface, audio signals of the computer are output via the G1u. Therefore you should connect the speakers to the G1u output, not to the computer.
Does the USB audio interface function support 24 bit/96 kHz audio output?
No. The USB chip used in the G1u only supports audio quality up to 16 bit/48 kHz.
When I use the USB audio interface function and record audio in a DAW application, the sound seems to have a flanger-like quality.
If the DAW application has an echo-back function (routing the input signal through to the output during recording), be sure to turn this function off. If the function is enabled, the direct output from the G1u and the throughput signal from the DAW application are heard together, which causes the flanger-like sound.
Can the unit operate on USB bus power?
Yes, the unit supports operation on USB bus power supplied by the computer.
Does the unit come with a USB cable?
No, a USB cable is not supplied. Please purchase a commercially available USB cable (A/B type).
Does the unit support the 64-bit version of Windows Vista and Windows 7?
Yes. The latest Audio Driver supports the 64-bit version of Windows Vista and Windows 7. This driver software is freely available from
DOWNLOAD page.

When monitoring the output from the G1u with headphones, can I adjust the volume?
Yes. Turning the VALUE knob in play mode adjusts the G1u output volume (MASTER LEVEL). For details, see page 7 of the Operation Manual.
Can I save the pattern/tempo/level settings for the rhythm function?
No, this is not supported. When the unit is turned off, the settings for rhythm function pattern/tempo/level revert to the default condition.
Is the audio performance of the G1u equal to the G2/G2.1u?
Basic audio performance specs such as 24 bit/96 kHz A/D/A conversion and 32-bit effect algorithm processing using ZOOM's proprietary ZFX-3 DSP chip are similar. However, the effect module configuration, number of effect parameters, effect parameter setting range and other aspects are different, and there is no dedicated algorithm for line output.
What is the patch change speed of the G1u?
The rated patch change speed of the G1u is the same as for the G2/G2.1u, namely 5 milliseconds.
Is it alright to power the unit from an AC adapter or USB bus power while batteries are inserted?
Yes, this is no problem. The batteries will not be used up in this case.
The indication ''bt'' has started to flash on the display. What does this mean?
It is designed to alert the user that the batteries will soon be exhausted and should be replaced as soon as possible.
Can the unit be powered from nickel-hydride (Ni-MH) or other rechargeable batteries rated for 1.2 V?
Testing has shown that the unit will operate properly with such batteries, but depending on the charge status and usage conditions, battery performance may not be optimal, and correct operation is not assured. ZOOM recommends the use of 1.5 V alkaline batteries.
* Battery life will differ according to the charge status of the rechargeable batteries. When the battery alert appears, you should change the batteries as soon as possible.
How do I use the bundled ''Live Lite 7'' application?
'Live Lite 7'' is an OEM product supplied by Ableton AG. ''Live Lite 7'' operation is not covered by ZOOM Corporation support. For information on use, refer to reference books for full-version "Live 7" available on the market.
