Effects
Pressing a foot switch does not change patches. Why?
To change patches with the foot switches, the G2Nu/G2.1Nu must be in play mode. Set the Module selector to ''PLAY''.
The volume level for my programmed patches differs. How can I make the volume the same?
Use the ''PATCH LEVEL'' parameter to adjust the volume to a suitable level for each patch. For details on the ''PATCH LEVEL'' parameter, see page 20 of the Operation Manual.
While playing a rhythm pattern, a reverb effect doesn't work. Why?
Due to limited DSP resources, the rhythm function and reverb effects cannot be used simultaneously. While a rhythm pattern is playing, reverb effects are temporarily disabled.
While using the looping function, a delay effect doesn't work. Why?
Due to limited DSP resources, the looping function and delay effects cannot be used simultaneously. While using the looping function, delay effects are temporarily disabled.
When switching patches, is it possible to have the sound not change until I confirm the selection?
Yes, this is possible. If you set the patch selection mode to ''pre-select'', the sound will not change until you confirm the selection. This is useful when changing to a patch at a far removed memory number during a live performance. For details, see the section ''Patch Pre-selection (PRE SELECT)'' on page 25 of the Operation Manual.
Does the G2Nu/G2.1Nu provide two types of modeling algorithms for amp connection and line connection, like the other G series (except G1 series)?
Yes. The G2Nu/G2.1Nu incorporates two dedicated algorithms for each drive type, designed for amp connection and line connection. Simply turn on the DIRECT key on the top panel and enjoy dynamic amp sounds that recreate the ideal speaker cabinet characteristics over a flat response audio system or headphones. Of course, this mode works perfectly for direct recording to a DAW application via the USB audio interface.
Using high-gain distortion effects, noise level becomes higher.
All drive effects such as overdrive, distortion, fuzz are produced by amplifying input signal. (not only ZOOM products) Therefore, a very little noise in guitar signal which comes from guitar pickup or guitar cable will be amplified together. To minimize noise level, please adjust ZNR parameter properly.
What kinds of functions are available when the optional foot switch FS01 is connected?
The foot switch FS01 can be used for bypass/mute switching, bank switching, turning the rhythm function on and off, performing tap input for the rhythm pattern/looper functions, controlling delay hold, or muting the delay input. For details, see page 26 of the manual.
What kind of functions are available with the optional Expression Pedal FP02?
Connecting the Expression Pedal FP02 allows you to control any effect parameter in real time. While playing your guitar, you can not only adjust volume, pedal wah, and pedal pitch with your foot, but you can even control the gain of distortion effects, the modulation rate, and the delay/reverb mix amount. For details, see the section ''Using an Expression Pedal'' on page 27 of the Operation Manual.
When using the expression pedal as a volume pedal, can I set a minimum volume?
Yes, you can set the minimum volume and maximum volume. For details, see page 27 of the manual.
USB
Does the unit support the 64-bit version of Windows Vista and Windows 7?
Yes. The latest Audio Driver supports the 64-bit version of Windows Vista and Windows 7. This driver software is freely available from
DOWNLOAD page.
Can the USB interface also be used with software other than Cubase LE 4?
Since the unit is recognized as a standard audio interface, other DAW software besides Cubase can be used. You may also perform audio playback through the unit using Windows Media Player or Apple iTunes and play along with your favorite tunes. For information on settings for DAW software besides Cubase, consult the respective manufacturer.
I can use the USB audio interface functions for recording, but there is no sound from my computer speakers.
When using the G2Nu/G2.1Nu as a USB audio interface, audio signals of the computer are output via the G2Nu/G2.1Nu. Therefore you should connect the speakers to the G2Nu/G2.1Nu output, not to the computer.
Does the USB audio interface function support 24 bit/96 kHz audio output?
No. The USB chip used in the G2Nu/G2.1Nu only supports audio quality up to 16 bit/48 kHz.
When I use the USB audio interface function and record audio in a DAW application, the sound seems to have a flanger-like quality.
If the DAW application has an echo-back function (routing the input signal through to the output during recording), be sure to turn this function off. If the function is enabled, the direct output from the G2Nu/G2.1Nu and the throughput signal from the DAW application are heard together, which causes the flanger-like sound.
Can the unit operate on USB bus power?
Yes, the unit supports operation on USB bus power supplied by the computer.
Does the unit come with a USB cable?
No, a USB cable is not supplied. Please purchase a commercially available USB cable (A/B type).
Can I adjust the recording level of the signal sent to the recording software?
Yes, this is possible. For details, see the section "Set the direct monitoring and recording levels" on page 30 of the manual.
Can I set the direct monitor function to off?
Yes, this is possible. When direct monitor is set to off, only the final sound as produced by the mixer and effects of the DAW software will be monitored. For details, see the section "Set the direct monitoring and recording levels" on page 30 of the manual.
OtherTopics
The indication ''Standby...'' flashes on the display, and there is no sound.
The G2Nu/G2.1Nu has a power save function designed to conserve battery power and prevent waste. When the unit is not being used for about 25 minutes, it automatically goes into standby mode. To defeat the power save function, set the Eco switch on the bottom panel to OFF. For details, see page 7 of the manual.
When monitoring the output of the G2Nu/G2.1Nu with headphones, can I adjust the volume?
Yes, this is possible. The MASTER LEVEL item in the GLOBAL menu can be used to adjust the output volume of the G2Nu/G2.1Nu. For details, see page 30 of the manual.
Can I save the pattern/tempo/level settings for the rhythm function?
No, this is not supported. When the unit is turned off, the settings for rhythm function pattern/tempo/level revert to the default condition.
Is it alright to power the unit from an AC adaptor or USB bus power while batteries are inserted?
Yes, this is no problem. The batteries will not be used up in this case.
The indication ''Low Battery!'' has appeared on the display. What does this mean?
It is designed to alert the user that the batteries will soon be exhausted and should be replaced as soon as possible.
Can I use rechargeable nickel-metal hydride (Ni-MH) batteries in the G2Nu/G2.1Nu?
Yes. However, to ensure that remaining battery capacity is indicated correctly by the G2Nu/G2.1Nu, set the ''BATTERY'' option in the GLOBAL menu to ''Ni-MH''.
Can I recharge the batteries with the G2Nu/G2.1Nu?
No, the G2Nu/G2.1Nu does not have a function for charging the batteries. You should therefore use a commercially available charger designed for the batteries you are using.
Does the unit have an AUX IN jack for direct connection of an MP3 player or similar?
No, an AUX IN jack is not provided. However, the USB audio interface function makes it possible to use the playback output of applications such as Windows Media Player or Apple iTunes as a mixing source. This lets you for example play your guitar along with a favorite song.
