FAQ
ST-224
ST-224
What type of Smart Media Card can be used for saving the data?
You can use 4MB, 8MB and 16MB Smart Media Card. There is no problem also "With ID" type. However please use 3.3v type only, not use 5v type.
Where can I purchase SmartMedia for ST-224 ?
SmartMedia is a general memory card for digital cameras. You can purchase it at computer shops. You may also able to find some net-stores.
Is it possible to extend sampling time using Smart Media Card?
Sampling time cannot be extended. Smart Media Card can be used only for data backup and filing use.
Is it possible to use ST-224 as sound module for MIDI system?
As MIDI IN is equipped, ST-224 can be used as sound module by NOTE ON/OFF message. However, as it corresponds only to the Gate playback, sound will not be available in case the time interval of NOTE ON OFF is too short. ST224 need enough gate length (time interval) as same as sampling sound length.
When connecting ST-224 with other MIDI equipment, they do not work.
Please check if MIDI channel of the equipment is same as ST-224's channel. In addition, please refer to MIDI implementation chart at the last page of operation manual.
I want ST-224 to synchronize with other equipment. However synchronize will be un-locked for time being.
When making ST-224 synchronized with other equipment, it is necessary to match BPM of the equipment and BPM of the sampled sound. And please set up Start/End point of the sampling sound suitable, otherwise synchronize can be un-locked.
Sampling any sound becomes impossible.
You may used up the all memory for sampling. Please erase an unnecessary sampling data. You can also optimize samples, so please refer to "Optimizing" in operation manual.
When you still cannot do sampling, RE-SAMPLE KEY may be turned on. Please turn off it, since you cannot sample any input signal from external equipment.
I want to sample only the Drum sound. However, other sounds will be sampled simultaneously.
Sampler records the input sound as it is. When you need only Drum sound, you need to input only Drum sound. It is not possible to sample only specific sound from the mixed sound source.
When I try to format a card, the indication "Cd-Err" appears and the formatting process does not go ahead.
The SmartMedia card has a write-protect sticker attached. Remove the sticker and try again. Otherwise, the indication also appears when inserting a 32MB or higher capacity card that is not supported by the ST-224. Use only SmartMedia cards rated for 3.3V with a capacity between 4 and 16 MB.
